Coach Spotlight
Leicestershire & Rutland County FA
Video Campaign
2024
About
A monthly campaign showcasing a diverse range of grassroots coaches, highlighting their stories, impact, and contribution to football across Leicestershire and Rutland. What began as a written interview series quickly evolved into a short-form video series, shared across YouTube and social media to reach a wider audience.
The campaign aimed to inspire more people to get involved in coaching, directly supporting participation growth and contributing towards the organisation’s key KPIs.
Production Approach
The campaign evolved into a more dynamic video format to better capture the energy and authenticity of grassroots coaching. I introduced an on-location filming approach, visiting coaches in their own environments to document them in action.
Each video was filmed using a Sony ZV-E10, paired with Rode wireless microphones to ensure high-quality audio alongside cinematic visuals. Filming focused on capturing key coaching moments through B-roll, including training sessions, player interactions, and demonstrations of coaching techniques.
This was combined with a structured interview, where responses to key questions were interwoven with the footage to create a natural and engaging narrative. All content was edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, bringing together visuals, audio, and storytelling to produce a polished final video.
The combination of real-time coaching visuals and personal insight helped bring each story to life, offering a more immersive and authentic portrayal of each coach’s impact.

Content and Creative
Each video featured a dedicated intro sequence, built around a consistent “spotlight” theme to give the series a strong and recognisable identity. I designed and animated these intros in Adobe After Effects, using lighting effects to place emphasis on each featured coach and create a professional, high-impact opening.
To support the campaign across all platforms, I also produced a full suite of branded assets for every feature. This included social media graphics, YouTube thumbnails, and website banners, all aligned with the LRCFA brand. Designs used the organisation’s blue colour palette, combined with a spotlight effect, a cut-out image of the coach, their name, and the club they represented. This ensured consistency across channels while making each coach the clear focal point of the content.
Impact
The Coach Spotlight Series generated strong engagement across digital platforms, achieving over 24,000 views on social media. Beyond reach, the campaign delivered meaningful impact by inspiring several individuals to take their first steps into coaching, reinforcing the power of storytelling to drive participation.
By promoting coaching as accessible and rewarding, the series contributed positively to t organisation’s key KPIs, particularly around participation growth and workforce development within grassroots football.
