About

The Young Leaders Empowerment Event campaign inspired young people aged 16 to 24 across Leicestershire and Rutland to explore volunteering opportunities in grassroots football.

Co-created with young leaders, the campaign used authentic storytelling, targeted social media, education outreach, and video content to encourage the next generation to step into roles such as coaching and refereeing.

Campaign Approach

The campaign was developed in collaboration with young people under 25 to ensure the event reflected the interests and motivations of the target audience. This co-creation approach helped shape the messaging, content, and promotion to make the campaign more authentic and relatable.

The campaign launched with a web article which acted as a central landing page where audiences could find full details about the event and register their interest. This provided a clear hub for information while supporting traffic from social media and external promotion.

To reach the target audience effectively, the campaign used a multi channel approach combining digital promotion with outreach to local colleges and universities.

Content and Creative

Campaign visuals were designed to feel authentic and relatable. Graphics featured real young people involved with Leicestershire and Rutland County FA, helping potential attendees see themselves reflected in the opportunity.

Short video content also played a key role in the campaign, featuring members of the LRCFA Young Leaders group, part of the organisation’s Youth Council. These videos highlighted their experiences in football and encouraged others to get involved.

To build anticipation ahead of the event, the campaign included countdown graphics and regular social media posts to maintain momentum and keep the event visible to audiences.

Channels and Promotion

The campaign was delivered across multiple channels to maximise reach and engagement.

Promotion included:

  • A dedicated website landing page with event details and sign up information
  • Social media promotion across LRCFA platforms
  • Short video content featuring young leaders
  • Countdown graphics to build anticipation
  • Outreach to local colleges and universities

This multi-channel approach ensured the campaign reached young people both online and within education environments where they were most likely to engage with the opportunity
